Children's Choir

Choir time is a time and a place where boys and girls can experience God through music.  This means that our directors and teachers intentionally make plans for this to happen!  Singing is our main activity, and cooperative teamwork is our goal.  Other musical activities include playing instruments, moving to music, reading music, creating music, learning how to share music with others, and activities that develop a keen listening skill.  We present these activities in a fun, engaging way, so children can experience the joy of music-making.

We also help prepare the children for corporate worship in our church, knowing how important it is that they feel a part of what we do when we gather as a community.  We carefully choose songs, hymns, and anthems to teach the children, knowing that a great amount of the theology they will learn can be derived from these texts.

We offer musical experiences for toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary age children—would you and your child join us?

Cherub Choir Registration Form 2009

Utilizing the Musikgarten curriculum God’s Children Sing, our youngest children learn the Bible stories of our faith through movement, songs, instruments, and drama.  This program also allows parents and children to make music together, sharing in their musical expression of faith.

KinderChoir Registration Form 2009

The beginnings of a faith foundation and the basic rudiments of music and singing are all a part of each rehearsal for this choir. The KinderChoir will learn spiritual concepts and musical skills as they play Orff instruments and hand chimes, participate in musical games, and sing hymns, anthems, and traditional songs.

Family members are invited to join their children in the final activities from 5:50-6:00.

Carol Choir
(First and Second Grades)

Room 21
Carol Choir Registration Form 2009

Chapel Choir
(Third through Fifth Grades)
Wednesdays 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Room 7
Chapel Choir Registration Form 2009

The Carol and Chapel Choirs give children a chance to study music in a more formalized choral setting. The curriculum for these two choirs blends together principles of the Royal School of Church Music, Orff-Schulwerk, and Kodaly.  Each rehearsal provides a creative learning environment for musical development in which children will sing anthems and traditional songs, play Orff instruments and hand chimes, study hymns, and continue to develop skills in reading music.
