Automatic Draft: The Cornwell Center is pleased to offer
automatic draft via a debit or credit card. Drafts will be taken
out on a monthly basis as memberships are due to renew. There is no
contract involved and payment can be stopped with a 30 day notice.
Accounts can also be suspended and drafts stopped if a family
emergency has occurred or if medical leave is necessary. If that
were to occur, a doctor’s note would be needed.
Financial Assistance: The Cornwell Center may provide services for
individuals and families who wish to participate but who may not have the
ability to pay standard fees. Applications are available at the reception desk.

Inclement Weather Policy
In the case of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (“CMS”) delay or cancellation due to inclement weather, The Cornwell Center will postpone its opening to 9 am or later. Specific details about our hours of operation during these times can be acquired in one of the following ways:
- Call The Cornwell Center at (704) 927-0774 and dial extension “0” to hear the announcement.
- Check the following television news stations that report delays and closings during inclement weather watch:
- WSOC – Ch. 4
- WBTV – Ch. 2
- WCNC – Ch. 36
When possible a notice will be placed on the front door.
We are currently unable to update the website from a remote location or send a mass email.

Policy Information
Age Policy: Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult (18 or
older) unless participating in a registered program or staff supervised
activity. Children under the age of 12 must be signed in with our childcare
staff. Parents are asked to please check their children in at the reception desk
before arrival in the Childcare area. Young people under 16 years using the Learning Center must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Fitness Center: You must be 16 years or older to use the fitness center
unless enrolled in an age-specific program. Youth ages 10 – 15 who receive an
orientation and staff approval may use the fitness center with a parent.

Program Registration: Registration will be held for all fee-based
programs. Participants will sign a waiver and pay the full fee at time of
registration. On-line registration is available for Cornwell Center members at
www.mpbconline.org. Programs will be available for both Cornwell members and
non-members.
Guests: Members of the Cornwell Center are welcome to bring the same
guest 3 times no fee. After the third visit, the guest may either join the
Cornwell Center or pay the drop in rate of $10 per visit. Additional guests may
be allowed with prior staff approval. “Walk-in” Guests, unaccompanied by a
member, are charged $10 per visit. All guests must sign in at the reception desk
and present a valid photo ID.
Youth guests: Youth ages 12 – 15 who are not part of a household
membership are welcome guests of the Cornwell Center with no guest fee. Youth
must have a ‘youth guest information form’ with emergency contact information
signed by a parent/guardian before participating in any activity at the Cornwell
Center. Youth guests will be issued an ID card that must be presented to enter
the facility.

Code of Conduct
The Cornwell Center at Myers Park Baptist Church is committed to providing a
wholesome environment that ensures the highest respect and courtesy toward each
member, a healthy atmosphere, and the proper use, maintenance and care of
Cornwell Center property and equipment.
Members, guests, and staff are expected to maintain conduct that supports an
environment that is:
1. Smoke and drug free
2. Free from profanity, verbal conflict, physical altercation and all forms of
harassment
3. Respectful of the property of members, staff and Myers Park Baptist Church
4. Diverse and open to all
5. Free from inappropriate sexual behavior
6. Safe
Use of Cornwell Center facilities is a privilege. Individuals who do not adhere
to the code of conduct will lose this privilege.

Facilities
Gymnasium – suspended, wood flooring has high school regulation
basketball court with 6 baskets and 2 scoreboards. All 6 goals are adjustable.
The court can be curtained and divided. The gymnasium is also equipped for
volleyball courts.
Fitness Center-fully equipped with a complete line of Cybex Eagle
strength equipment, a complete set of dumbbells and a pair of functional
trainers, treadmills, cross trainers and recumbent bikes. The room is climate
controlled, has specialized rubber flooring and mirrored walls.
Group Exercise Room-suspended wood flooring, mirrored walls and dance
barre define this space, which is climate controlled and a/v wired. A complete
range of classes for all ages, interests and abilities is offered.
Indoor Track-for indoor walking or jogging. The track offers additional
cardio equipment as well as a stretching area. Children under 12 must be
supervised by an adult. Pedometers available at the reception desk.
Commons-vending machines, café tables, foosball, table hockey and video
games make this a fun place for young and old to hang out or to hold a birthday
party. Board games can be checked out from the reception desk.
Studio-featuring kiln and pottery wheels, the center will accommodate art
activities ranging from pottery to painting for all ages and abilities.

Learning Center-state of the art computer technology and video
conferencing capability. Classes are available for all ability levels.
Conference Center-powered tables, drop down a/v and wireless web
capabilities make this a state of the art conference center available for church
groups and outside rentals.
Lounge-cozy and comfortable with working gas fireplace, couches, soft
chairs and card tables. The lounge is a place to sit with friends and relax,
enjoy a card game, or host a small group meeting.
Locker Rooms are available in complete with lockers and showers. Lockers
are for daily use only. Locks left on overnight will be removed.
Rentals/Room Reservations
Cornwell Center facilities are available for rent to outside parties for a fee.
Rental request forms are available at the reception desk and must be completed
at least 2 weeks prior to activity and approved by Director. All rentals must
abide by rental contract and pay all fees in advance. Church activities have
priority in scheduling.
Birthday Parties – Effective April 1, 2006
Cornwell members can host birthday parties for up to 15 children at the Cornwell
Center. Parties can be up to two hours in length and consists of one hour in
each of two rooms.

- Group Exercise Room
A two-hour party for up to 15 children is $125 for members and $150 for non-members. Additional $50 fee will be charged for Studio or Learning Center parties to cover staff and materials. Guests must adhere to all facility rental policies and Code of Conduct.
