INSTRUCTOR PROFILES

New Art Studio Coordinator - Greg Scott
"Born in Macon Georgia in 1969, I came to Charlotte in 1980. As a child I worked with my Grandmother who was a ceramic craftsperson in Lizella Georgia. My exposure to the arts and culture in Charlotte through school programs and museum visits was the catalyst for my interest in painting and sculpture. After graduating from South Mecklenburg high school I attended CPCC and transferred to East Carolina University School of Art.
"Upon Graduating from ECU with a BFA in painting in 1994 I returned to Charlotte to practice my disciplines and work for Paramount Parks as a scenic painter and eventually a designer. I’m now raising my family in Charlotte with my wife, Adrienne Dellinger also a working artist, with our two children Grace and Quinn.  I am seeking more gallery representation and enjoying longer studio sessions producing new work in painting and clay. I have never stopped my explorations in clay and have been teaching ceramics for various non-profit organizations for over 12 years along with my studio work in clay, paint and digital art.

"I have experience as a painter, ceramic artist and designer. I am an emerging artist and in the past five years I have had the opportunity to complete 4 public art installations. The most recent was the Central Avenue Streetscape project installed in late September 2009, a collaboration with the community of Merry Oaks, Arts and Science Council and the Public Art Commission."

Pottery Instructor - Celena Burnett
"My focus on making pots has always been on function- and the everyday use of them. The handmade vessel has a life or personality of it's own and brings a more meaningful experience to the user.
"We prepare and eat food everyday - mealtime is a communal experience, and using hand crafted pottery can enrich that experience. The food nourishes us, as does the art in which it is served. I think that today it is very important to have hand made objects in our home, and in our kitchens, to use, because in today's times there is too much plastic and mold-made lifeless objects. It is crucial to keep beauty and art in our lives."

Painting Instructor - Kevin E. Brown
Charlotte, North Carolina artist Kevin E. Brown paints serene landscapes with oils, pastels and acrylics. His profound love of nature, rural America and our national parks is depicted in images that may look like photographs from a distance but on closer inspection reveal themselves to be painterly brushstrokes or intriguing shapes of color. Brown teaches adult painting classes and workshops in Charlotte. He is currently represented by Crossnore Fine Arts Gallery in Crossnore, NC.
