Worship at Myers Park Baptist Church brings together the ancient and the new. It honors the two thousand year worship traditions of the church and shapes them in our "free-church" tradition to bring something fresh and vital. It seeks to reach the mind, heart and will of every person. Worship here offers superb sacred music of many different genres, pastoral and prophetic preaching, carefully planned liturgy, and the "freedom of the pulpit" cherished by the congregation. We, a church "open to all and closed to none," want worship to be, as Jesus put it, "a house of prayer for all people."

We worship in a breathtakingly beautiful sanctuary whose architecture itself is a profound theological statement. We worship God in the "beauty of holiness."  But our worship does not neglect the poorest and most vulnerable in our world. As Camus wrote, "There is beauty and there are the humiliated, and we must try, hard as it is, not to be unfaithful to one or to the other."

Sermon TalkBack is what we do in the summer instead of Sunday School. After the 10:00 a.m. worship service in the Sanctuary, we go to Heaton Hall where we can "talk back" to the preacher about the sermon, for example, asking for more detail or explanation or sharing a personal experience that is connected to the topic. This is an excellent way to participate in and hear the diverse voices that make up the Myers Park Baptist Church community.
